About Us
Having realized the needs in our society in regards to
education, we felt convinced to uplift the lives of our children, by offering
them education for those who could not afford and shelter for the orphans as
they learn. However, some of our beneficiaries are grown up and working in various
sectors in our society. This has really been our great encouragement to venture
more to this process of taking care of the needy children for we believe,
especially if you educate one child you benefit and impact our society
positively.
The story of Vine Foundation starts with a girl called Belinda Lemoloi. Belinda is a beneficiary of Vine Foundation, born and raised in Samburu. She was rescued from her community due to gender-based violence where she joined Vine Foundation in the year 2018 at a primary level and continued to high school level. She has been doing well academically through Vine Foundation Support.
Every child has the right to free and compulsory basic education in accordance with Article 53(1) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya. Both female genital mutilation and child marriage have been illegal in Kenya since 2001 when the Children's Act became law. Other laws such as the Sexual Offences Act, 2006, the Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation Act, 2011 and the Marriage Act, 2014, which sets the age of marriage at 18 years, also protect girls from these practices. Child marriage occurs when one or both of parties involved in marriage are below the age of 18. Child marriage is a manifestation of that violence. Violence against women and girls is a global menace. In Kenya, statistics indicate that violence against women and girls affects one in every three women. In many cases, parents opine that it is in their child’s best interest to marry at a young age, believing that this will protect them against physical or sexual assaults. This belief is however misguided. On the contrary, child marriage puts victims at risk of sexual, physical and psychological violence.

empowerment, helping girls reach their full potential and contribute positively
